“On Saturday last, died at his House in Greenwich, WM. BOUSFIELD, ESQ, Major of the Royal Train of Artillery, commanded by the Hon. Albert Burgard, greatly lamented and regretted by every one that had the happiness of his acquaintance, being a gentleman remarkable for his Affability, Humanity, Honour, Probity, and Bravery. He behaved with the utmost Gallantry in King Wm. and Queen Anne’s Wars, by Sea and Land, Bombardment of Havre de Grace; Expedition to Vigo. In Ireland, particularly at the Battle of Boyne, and Agrim, both the sieges of Limerick, Galway, and Drogheda. In Flanders, the Siege of Namure, Stevenswart, Ruremond, Liege, Ramillies, Oudenard, etc. By Sea, in the year 1689, in the Greyhound Man of War, against Kilmore Castle, near Londonderry, in which the ship was deserted by the Captain, and secured from the enemy by Mr. BOUSFIELD, who then undertook the command. In every one of which Actions, he discharged in all respects the duties of several Stations he was in, and though he might with justice have boasted of the many signal services performed by him, his modesty was such, that he avoided to make them at any time the topics of his discourse etc.”
